Moving the hood to the service position
Precondition
Engine compartment lid is open.
CAUTION:
Shutting hood or trunk lid.
Injury hazard!

- Support the hood/tailgate in the fully open position using a suitable device.
NOTE:
The steps shown on one side must be performed on both sides.
- Lift the clamp (3) slightly in arrow direction with a screwdriver.
- Loosen ball socket (1) from ball pin (2).NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Conduct the following operation with the assistance of a second person. - Remove the support of the hood and open the hood further.
- Place the special tool 0 493 200 (51 2 160) (3) over the gas pressure spring (1).
- Attach special tool 0 493 200 (51 2 160) (3) to the ball hub (2) and engage with force.
