Remove control unit bracket
WARNING:
Working on 12 V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
Preliminary work
- Refer to DEACTIVATING VEHICLE-SPECIFIC HIGH-VOLTAGE OR LOW-VOLTAGE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE REAR LEFT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER OF THE REAR RIGHT ENGINE COMPARTMENT .
- Refer to PARTIALLY REMOVING THE MOUNT OF THE HOOD SEAL ON LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING SUSPENSION STRUT BRACE .
- Refer to REMOVING INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER PANEL OF THE DME CONTROL UNIT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE DME CONTROL UNIT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE INTEGRATED POWER SUPPLY MODULE (PDM) .
- Release the wiring harness from the holder (1) and set aside.
- Release the clamp (2) from the control unit holder.
- Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
- Release the connector (3) from the control unit holder and set aside.
- Loosen clamp (1).
- Unlock the cable clip (1) and release from the holder together with the wiring harnesses.
- Set the cable clip (1) and the wiring harnesses set aside.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock connector (2) and disconnect it from the control unit bracket (3).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock connector (2) and disconnect it from the control unit bracket (3).
- Release the connector (1) and disconnect from the control unit holder (2).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Guide the control unit holder (2) up and out and remove.
