Remove both D-pillar trim panels

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Have the set of special tools 0 493 752 (00 9 329) ready.

Loosen expanding rivet (1).
Loosen screws (2).
Place a suitable special tool between the sealing lip on the tailgate seal and the D-pillar trim panel (3).
Loosen D-pillar trim panel (3) from the clip (4) and from the clamps (5).

Unclip D-pillar trim panel (1) from the clips (2) and remove.
