Installing steering shaft, bottom
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The steering shaft can only be installed in one position.
The steering shaft is encoded for the steering column and the steering gear.
Position the clamping bolt in the groove of the steering gear or steering column.
The steering shaft can only be installed in one position.
The steering shaft is encoded for the steering column and the steering gear.
Position the clamping bolt in the groove of the steering gear or steering column.
- Position the bottom steering shaft (1).
- Pull the steering column (3) out to its maximum length.
- Slide the steering shaft, bottom, (2) in the arrow direction onto the steering column (3).
- Replace the clamping bolt (1).

- Tighten the clamping bolt (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Lower steering shaft to steering column Clamping bolt M8 Recut screw thread.
Replace clamping bolt.
No retorque permitted!Tightening torque 28 Nm - Clean the screw thread from residues of screw locking agent.
- Slide the lower steering shaft (2) onto the steering gear in the direction of the arrow.
- Replace the clamping bolt (1).

- Tighten the clamping bolt (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Lower steering shaft to steering gear M8
Recut screw thread.
Replace clamping bolt.
No retorque permitted!Tightening torque 28 Nm
Follow-up work
- Install the integrated POWER SUPPLY MODULE (PDM).
- Install the DME CONTROL UNIT .
- Install ACOUSTIC COVER .
- Connect system battery negative BATTERY CABLE .
- Install trunk battery COVER .
- Connect the negative BATTERY CABLE (12 v battery).
- Activate HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .
- Install flap in right luggage compartment TRIM PANEL .
- Check the AIRBAG for function.
- Check the straight-ahead driving position of the STEERING WHEEL .
