Flush and vent the rear axle brake circuit
NOTE:
Description is for right component only. The procedure on the left side is identical.
Prerequisite
- Vehicle with floating caliper braking system.

Use only BMW-APPROVED BRAKE FLUIDS . Refer to the "Fluid Capacities" tab for the selected vehicle.

Preliminary work
- Remove the rear left engine compartment COVER .
- Connect the brake fluid BLEEDER UNIT ..
- Begin with the flushing at the right rear.
- Connect the vent hose with the collecting vessel to the bleed valve (1) on rear right brake caliper.
- Open the bleed valve (1) and purge it until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
- Close bleed valve.TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Bleed valve of the rear brake caliper, made of aluminum and not painted Bleed valve Tightening torque 10 Nm TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATIONBleed valve of the rear brake caliper, made of steel and always painted Bleed valve Tightening torque 17 Nm - Carry out the same procedure on the rear left wheel brake.
