Installing engine on automatic transmission
- Make sure that the hole (1) of the flywheel is flush with the dowel hole on the crankcase.
- Check the fitting sleeves (2) for a correct fit and damage, replace if necessary.
- Replace damaged lining sleeves (2)
.
- Position the engine (1) with a workshop crane and position the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070) on the special tool 2 184 136 .
- Guide out the workshop crane with the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070) from the engine (1) and move it
aside.
- Push table top (B)
in the arrow direction toward table top (A)
and position the automatic transmission (1)
on the engine.
- Turn the torque converter until the bore of the torque converter is aligned with the bore of the flywheel.
- Flange-mount the automatic transmission to the engine.
- Tighten screws (arrows).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Transmission to engine M8 Tightening torque 19 Nm M12 Tightening torque 66 Nm NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the engine .
If the engine is manually rotated in the wrong direction of rotation, the engine can be damaged .- Only rotate the engine manually in the correct direction of rotation: a) clockwise when looking at the damper, or b) counterclockwise when looking at the chain drive. b) applies only if the timing chain is installed in the rear.
- Turn the engine with the special tool 0 493 380 (11 6 480)
at the vibration damper in the direction of rotation

- Replace nuts (1)

- Screw 6 nuts (1)
on the torque converter.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Torque converter to flywheel M10
Replace nuts.
Remove any adhesive residue from the thread, if necessary.tightening torque 56 Nm - Unscrew the bolts (1) of the special tool 2 459 012 .
- Guide the special tool 2 459 012 out and remove.
