Attention!
Excess pressure and vacuum lines can be recognized by the size of their fasteners and are color-coded blue and red respectively.
Identification:
- Blue - overpressure line
- Red - vacuum line
Excess pressure and vacuum lines must not be mixed up.
Mixing up the lines will result in engine damage.
Preliminary work needed:
- Loosen the intake filter housing.
- Prepare the diagnostic system
- Start diagnostic program
- Drive
- Engine electronics
- Position Air supply the 3rd
- Charging pressure control system or perception of lack of power

Check air intake system for leak tightness:
Both clean air pipes must be closed using special tool 2 409 665 to ensure an accurate leakage test.
Connect the pressure hose (1) with special tool 2 358 459.
Insert the blue overpressure line (2) into the pneumatic coupling (1) as far as it will go.
Connect the pressure lines with the diagnostic system and the Integrated Measurement Interface Box.
Insert the blue overpressure line on the diagnostic system 0 426 464 into the connector (1).
Connect Integrated Measurement Interface Box 1 via the hose 81 31 2 357 800 (previously: 81 38 2 201 924) with the connector of the auxiliary diagnostic device.
Installation note:
Follow diagnosis instruction.
Leak detection with BMW leak detector:
Disconnect the overpressure line (2) on the diagnostic system.
Connect the pressure line (1) from the BMW leak detector 2 353 954 to the overpressure line (2).
Put the BMW leak detector 2 353 954 into operation according to the operating instructions.
Observe the BMW diagnosis instructions.
Leaks in the air intake duct are detected by emerging smoke.
