62 11 280 Removing and installing/replacing instrument panel

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Clamp off the BATTERY LEAD FROM NEGATIVE CONNECTION POINT
• Move steering column completely rearwards
• If necessary, tape off cover to protect against damage

Removal: 

Release both screws (1) and lift out instrument cluster in direction of arrow.

Disconnect all connectors (1) and remove instrument cluster (2).

Installation: 

Connect all connectors (1) and install instrument cluster (2).

Installation note: 

Retaining tabs (1) of instrument panel (2) must be exactly seated in mountings of dashboard.

Join instrument cluster in direction opposite to direction of arrow.

Tighten both screws (1).

Tightening torque, refer to: 62 11 1AZ .

Replacement: 

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .

Check values for Condition Based Service (CBS) and correct if necessary.

Required reworking: 

• Connect BATTERY CABLE NEGATIVE TERMINAL
• Move steering column into position
