- Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
- Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
To ensure the quality of the Driver Assistance functions in vehicles with concealed radar sensors, the component may only be repainted in compliance with the following instructions:
No stickers or films (transparent or colored) may be affixed in the transmission areas of the radar sensors.
If there are no radar sensors fitted, the component may be painted.
The following features can be used to identify whether radar sensors are installed on the vehicle:
Radar sensors are installed at the rear if the triangular warning lamp is present on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame).
Radar sensors are installed at the front and rear if the triangular warning light is present on the exterior mirror (in the mirror glass or on the mirror frame) in conjunction with optional equipment S5ATA or S5AUA.

Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE CENTER ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER .
- Refer to REMOVING CENTER RADIATOR ORNAMENTAL GRILLE .
- Refer to PARTIALLY REMOVING BOTH WHEEL ARCH COVERS IN FRONT .
- Refer to PARTIALLY REMOVING TEMPERATURE SENSOR .
- Loosen the expanding rivet (1) .
- Loosen screws (2) .
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the right and left side.
- Loosen screws (1) .
- Release front side bumper cover with detent (2) and feed out of guide in arrow direction.
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the right and left side.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Remove plug connection (1) from holder (2) .
- Unclip wiring harness with bracket (3)
.
- Release front bumper cover forwards out of detents (1) .
- Pull front bumper cover forwards slightly and, if necessary, unlock and disconnect additional plug connections.
- Remove front bumper cover toward the front.
