Remove output shaft

- Secure the vehicle hoist against lowering and lifting.
- Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.

- After completion of repair work, check the transmission oil level in the rear differential.
- Use only the BMW approved final drive transmission oil. See the Fluid Capacities tab for the selected vehicle.

- Refer to RELEASING THE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE M SPORT DIFFERENTIAL .
- Refer to DETACHING THE OUTPUT SHAFT FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL .
- Refer to LOWERING REAR DIFFERENTIAL .
- Refer to GUIDING OUT THE LEFT OUTPUT SHAFT FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL .
- Secure the output shaft (1) from falling.
Loosen the output shaft from the wheel bearing
- Press brake pedal.
- Loosen the collar screw (1)
.
The output shaft is released from the wheel bearing.
- Pull the output shaft (1) out and remove it.
