Inserting the left output shaft in the rear axle differential

NOTE: Description is for right component only. The procedure on the left side is identical.

Feeding the output shaft into the rear axle differential

Fold open the assembly protection ring (1).

Turn the rear axle differential (1) with the special tool 0 496 009 (33 5 200) to the left. While doing so feed in the output shaft (2).

Pull on the lug of the installation protection ring (1) until one of the two predetermined breaking points breaks.
Pull out and dispose of the installation protection ring (1).
