Lower headlining (with sliding/tilting sunroof) on the left or right
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Fold the headlining .
Damage to the headlining. If necessary, the headlining must be replaced .
Fold the headlining .

- Carry out tasks with a second person to assist.
- Support the headlining at the front and back.
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SUN VISOR AND THE COUNTER SUPPORT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE ROOF FUNCTION CENTER (FZD) .
- Refer to REMOVING INTERIOR ROOF LIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE B-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE GRAB HANDLE .
- Refer to REMOVING C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING REAR WINDOW STORAGE SHELF AT FRONT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT COVER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
Precondition
The front seats have been fully adjusted towards the bottom.
The front seat backrests have been fully adjusted towards the rear.
The rear seat backrest is folded down toward the front.
- Unscrew the screw (1)
at the headlining (2)
.
- Unclip the headlining (1) at the clips (2) downward.
- Unclip the headlining (1) from the sliding/tilting sunroof case at the clips in the area of the dotted line (3) .
NOTE:
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
- Guide out the headlining at the respective edge protection.
- Lower the headlining and place it onto the head restraints as shown.
