Removing the safety battery terminal
WARNING:
Working on 12V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is No charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING BATTERY GROUND LEAD .

Risk of damage
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (ibs).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. do not pry off using a tool.
- Release latch mechanism (2) of the protective cap (1).
- Feed out the protective cap (1) upwards from the guides (3) and remove it.
- Remove the cover for the positive battery terminal (1).
- Detach the protective cap (1) in an upwards direction.
- Release the nut (1) and place the positive battery cable (2) to the side.
- Release the nut (3) and remove the safety battery terminal (4).
- Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
- Unclip the cover (1) (arrows) and remove it.
- Loosen nut (1).
- Unclip clip (2).
- Remove positive battery cable (3).
