Removing chain tensioner

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

- Refer to REMOVING LAMBDA OXYGEN SENSOR FOR THE CYLINDERS 4 TO 6 .
Precondition
Negative battery cable disconnected.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Collect and dispose of emerging fluids. Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

- Unlock the locks (1).
- Feed out and remove the cover (2) in arrow direction.
- Release nut (1).
- Pull the positive battery cable (2) out and set it aside.
- Prepare the commercially available tool.
Number Description 1 1/2" torque wrench 2 Wrench socket set SW19 - A small amount of motor oil emerges when removing the chain tensioner (2), have a cleaning cloth ready.
- Release the chain tensioner (2) with standard tools (1).
- Thread the chain tensioner (1) out and remove.
