Remove outer window channel strip
Precondition
- Before starting the work, check the setting for the door window glass (see additional information).NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Correct adjustment of the door window glasses is necessary to ensure the following characteristics:- No water ingress (tightness)
- No wind noise
- No rattling noise
- No unintentional reversing of door window glass during closing operation (anti-trap safety function)
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Prerequisites for correctly setting door window pane:- Vehicle is supported on wheels at ground level.
- After being lowered from the vehicle lift, the vehicle has been rolled 3 to 5 meters) forward and back (releasing chassis and body tension).
- Door is adjusted correctly.
- Battery is recharged (full functionality of the power window regulator only with external voltage supply during adjustment work, see NOTES ON LITHIUM-ION BATTERY )
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When adjusting the door window glass, it is imperative to first check the retraction depth or longitudinal direction before adjusting the preload.
Precondition
The door window glass is open.
Preparing the special tool
- Only perform if the upper bore is not present.
- Mark and perform the bore on the special tool 0 495 484 (00 9 324) according to the specified
dimensions.
Introduce the bore on the side with the long shank.
The diameter of the bore is 6 mm.
Dimension (a) = 25 mm from the center of the existing bore
Dimension (b) = 50 mm from the outer edge of the special tool
NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details. - Insert the special tool 0 495 484 (00 9 324) at the front on the A-pillar into the window cavity and slide it toward the back.
- Make sure that the special tool 0 495 484 (00 9 324)
with the short shank (2) is placed at the lower edge of the window channel strip (1) as illustrated.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Careless handling of tools and sharp-edged components.
Scratches, surface damage.- Protect working area.
- Handle tools and components carefully.
- Lift the outer window channel strip (2) at the rear with the special tool by 2 298 505 maximum 5 mm in an upwards direction.
- Lever out the outer window channel strip (2) with a suitable tool (1) in arrow direction.
The tool is buttressed by the special tool 0 490 538 (00 9 321) .
When this happens, the special tool 0 495 484 (00 9 324) lifts the outer window channel strip (2) upwards .
- Repeat this process step by step forwards until the outer window channel strip (2) is completely disassembled.NOTE: To prevent scratches in the area of the mirror triangle, do not pull the window channel strip off the door too far up.
- Feed out and remove the outer window channel strip (1) in the front area carefully to the rear from the adapter of the window channel strips (2).
