11 14 295 Removing and installing/replacing oil sump acoustic cover (230i and 230i xDrive coupe/convertible)

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Refer to DISCONNECTING BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
• Refer to LOWERING FRONT AXLE SUPPORT .

Removal: 

Release nut (1) and remove positive battery cable.

Release nut (2) and remove cables from terminal 50.

Remove cable line terminal 50 in the marked areas of the acoustic cover.

Loosen all expanding rivets.

Remove sound insulation (1) towards rear bottom.

Installation: 

Install sound insulation (1) towards front upwards.

Install sound insulation (1) and attach using the expanding rivets (arrows).

Connect positive battery cable (1) to starter motor.

Push up positive battery cable (1) up to the sound insulation (2).

Bring anti-twist safeguard (3) of the positive battery cable (1) on the starter motor to limit position (4).

Tighten nut (5).

Tightening torque 12 42 2AZ .

Insert and install clamp (7) on the starter motor.

Tighten nut (6).

Tightening torque 12 42 3AZ .

Required follow-up work: 

• Lift front axle support and fasten. Refer to LOWERING/RAISING FRONT AXLE SUPPORT (UNIVERSAL LIFTER) .
• Add final details to vehicle. Refer to LOWERING/RAISING FRONT AXLE SUPPORT (UNIVERSAL LIFTER .
• Refer to CONNECTING BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
