Removing the system battery

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
- Unclip luggage compartment antenna (1) complete with holder upwards from luggage compartment floor.
- Set the luggage compartment antenna (1) aside and secure.
- Loosen the screws (1) and remove the rollover protection (2).
- Detach the vent hose (1).
- Unscrew the bolt (2) and remove the battery carrier (3).
- Remove the cover for the positive battery terminal (1).
- Unfasten nut.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) .
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults .- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
- Detach the positive battery terminal (2) from the positive battery terminal.WARNING: Unprotected battery terminals .
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!- Cover the vehicle battery.
- Secure the positive battery terminal (2) on the side.
- Slide system battery (1) laterally in the arrow direction out of the guide (2) and remove at the grip handles in an upward direction.
