Removing Roof Outer Skin
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Release the rivets (1) and remove the ground strap (2).
Remove all 4 ground straps.

For additional information see: 41 00... Releasing bonded connections - Heat the bonded connection (1) with a hot air blower until the adhesive is dissolved and release.
- Heat the bonded connection (1) in sections beginning from the rear left and remove.
- Drive in the plastic or wooden wedge (1) at the heated section carefully
.
The wedge creates tension between the roof outer skin and the body.
- If the wedge cannot be driven in, continue to heat a large area of the roof outer skin on the adhesive flange (maximum 180°C).
- Heat the bonded connection with a hot air blower until the adhesive is loosened.
- Heat the next section until the roof outer skin loosens.
- Readjust the wedge and repeat the procedure until the roof outer skin is fully released.
- Release the roof outer skin from the sound insulations (1) (source foam strips) and remove it.
