Removing the hydraulic cylinder for the convertible top

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Preliminary work

Hydraulic cylinder for the top

CAUTION: Folding up of convertible top through loss of pressure in hydraulic cylinders .
Injury hazard! Injury hazard by trapping!

When carrying out all repair work, secure soft top and soft top compartment lid with a suitable support tool against collapsing. Ensure soft top is supported in the middle.

Move the convertible top (1) into the shown position.
The convertible top (1) must be closed.
Make sure the convertible top cover is (2) completely open.
Make sure the convertible top (1) is no longer locked in areas (3).
Switch off ignition.
The convertible top system will be depressurized after approx. 7 min and can then be manually moved.

NOTE: To make the convertible top system depressurize faster: Long press the audio button. The system is then depressurized after just a few seconds.
Detach the retaining clip (1).
Feed out the top guide pin (2).
Feed out the hydraulic cylinder (3) for the convertible top towards the bottom.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When moving the convertible top: Absolutely ensure that no moving parts collide with the loose hydraulic cylinder.
Open the convertible top (1) by hand and pack it into the convertible top compartment.

Detach the safety gate (1).

Ready the special tool 2 461 260 and pull each fully apart in arrow direction.
NOTE: There is a left and right equipment specification for this special tool!

Position the special tool 2 461 260 on the convertible top main bearing (1).

Push the special tool 2 461 260 completely down in arrow direction.
Push the bottom guide pin (2) out of the convertible top main bearing (1) in arrow direction.
Remove the special tool 2 461 260 in arrow direction.

Feed in the special tool 2 461 260 from the convertible top main bearing (1) in arrow direction.
Position the tip of the special tool 2 461 260 on the bottom guide pin (2).
By turning the special tool in arrow direction, pull out the bottom guide pin (2) from the convertible top main bearing (1) until the hydraulic cylinder of the convertible top is clear.
NOTE: Only pull the bottom guide pin out of the convertible top main bearing as much as needed.
This should prevent the bolt from falling down.

Manually close the convertible top.
Feed out the hydraulic cylinder (1) for the convertible top towards the rear.

Unfasten cable tie.
Protect the working area from escaping hydraulic fluid.
Push each of the lock plates (1) towards the outer in arrow direction and remove.
Remove hydraulic lines (2).
Remove the hydraulic cylinder (3).
