Checking the hydraulic fluid level of the convertible top drive unit's hydraulic unit

Precondition

Open and close convertible top completely twice.

The convertible top is closed.

Remove luggage compartment floor covering

Removing the loading edge trim

Open hook and loop tape (1) and remove the warning triangle (2).

Loosen the expanding rivet (1).
Loosen screw (2).
Unclip loading edge trim upwards from detents (3).
Guide the loading edge trim beneath the sealing lip of the tailgate seal and remove it.

Remove trunk compartment light

Unclip luggage compartment lamp (1) with special tool 0 490 539 (00 9 322) .

Loosen the expanding rivet (2).
Remove the upper luggage compartment trim panels (1).

Unclip covers (1) of lashing eyes (2).
Release screws (3) of lashing eyes (2).
Open expanding rivet (4) of bag hook.

Detach the Bowden cable (4).

Feed out the luggage compartment wheel arch trim panel (1) from the front guides (2) and remove it.
Feed out the luggage compartment wheel arch trim panel (2) under the sealing lip of the tailgate seal and remove.

Removing the emergency release handle for the tailgate (additional work for US version)

Loosen the emergency release handle (1) for the tailgate from the holder.
Detach the Bowden cable (2) and remove the emergency release handle (1) for the tailgate.

Protect the working area from escaping hydraulic fluid.
Place the hydraulic unit (1) horizontally in the trunk.
Open and close convertible top completely twice.
With the convertible top closed, the oil level must be within the mark (2).

» Oil level outside of the mark (2).

Measure

Undo the screw (3) and correct the oil level.

Insert the hydraulic unit into the sound insulation (2).
Secure cable tie (1).

Feed in hydraulic unit (2) and position it.
Feed in foam backing (1) and position it.

Insert the luggage compartment wheel arch trim panel (1) and feed it into the front guides (2).
Feed in the luggage compartment wheel arch trim panel (1) in the rear area below the sealing lip of the tailgate seal.

Attach the Bowden cable (4).
Install the backrest remote unlocking (5) in the luggage compartment wheel arch trim panel (1).
Hook the Bowden cable (2) and clip in the emergency unlocking (3).

Installing loading edge trim

Check clamps (1) for damage and, if necessary, replace them.

Feed the loading edge trim under the sealing lip of the trunk lid seal.
Fit the trim of the loading edge at the detents (3) and clip it in to the bottom.
Tighten down screw (2).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
