Install the left-hand and right-hand crash lever
- Replace clip nut (1).

- When positioning the crash lever (1) watch out for the Christmas tree clip.
- Position the tension strut (4) on the front subframe.
- Position the crash lever (3) on the front axle support.
- Replace the screw (1).
Parts: Screw
- Feed the screw (1) into the spring Circlip (2).NOTE: Do not yet tighten the screw (1).
Adjust vehicle to the NORMAL POSITION .
NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Failure to comply with the specification.
Component damage.- All specifications must be observed and complied with.
- Position special tool 2 358 630 .
- Hand-tighten the wheel bolts (1).
- Insert the universal jack into the special tool 2 358 630
.
- For installed output shaft:
It is imperative to protect the output shaft (1) from damage with a cloth (2).
The spring strut (3) must be pressed in arrow direction slightly to the side before lifting the swivel bearing (A).
When lifting the swivel bearing, ensure that there is sufficient distance between the output shaft and the spring strut.
- Use the universal jack and the special tool 2 358 630
to lift the swivel bearing until it reaches the dimension (A).
Dimension (A) = 380 mm
Dimension (A) must not be undershot.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Tighten the screw connection in the NORMAL POSITION . - Tighten the screw (1) in NORMAL POSITION
.NOTE: Drive the steering (swivel bearing) a little inwards.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Tension strut to front axle support M14
Replace flat nuts and screw.
Tighten in normal position.Joining torque 85 Nm Angle of rotation 180° Remove the special tool
- Lower the workshop jack and set it aside.
- Loosen lug bolts (1).
- Remove the special tool 2 358 630
.
- Replace clip nut (1).

- Feed in the screw (1) with the spring circlip (2) and screw in by a few turns.
The screw connection is tightened later in NORMAL POSITION .
Adjust vehicle to the NORMAL POSITION .

- Pull the swivel bearing (1) slightly downwards.
- Position spring strut (2) in the arrow direction behind the bottom wishbone (3).
- Position special tool 2 358 630 .
- Hand-tighten the wheel bolts (1).
- Insert the universal jack into the special tool 2 358 630
.
- Use the universal jack and the special tool 2 358 630
to lift the swivel bearing until it reaches the dimension (A).
When lifting the swivel bearing, ensure that there is sufficient distance to the spring strut.
The dimension (A) cannot be undershot.
