Preparing New Part
Adhesive technology in the area of the outer skin (not for structural adhesion):
The bonding surfaces of the new parts may not sharpened or ground.

- Remove the sound insulation (1) (expansion foam strip).
- Remove adhesive residue in the area (1) to 0.5 mm.
- Do not damage the primed surface when doing so.
Minor damage up to 5 mm or scratches can be ignored.
In the event of more significant damage to the base coat (exceeding 5 mm), proceed as follows:
- Pre-clean the damaged area with a cleaning agent.CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION

The adhesive flange area must not be painted over when the roof frame is being repaired or renewed. - Apply adhesive to the bare areas with a spatula or a brush. Apply a uniformly thin layer (maximum 0.5 mm). The roof outer skin can be bonded after a curing period of 24 hours at a minimum of 15°CADHESIVE SPECIFICATION
Body adhesive K5 50 ml 83192158654 - Adjust the securing tools and locking pliers prior to installation to adhere to the processing time of 15 min. starting from application of the adhesive.
- Adjust the new roof outer skin.
Mounting and adjusting the securing tool for the roof outer skin
- Variant with M7 rivet nut:
Pull out the hold-down device (1) before installation by turning it until it reaches the same dimensions as shown.
Position the securing tool 2 469 797 over the rivet nut (2).
Join the M7 screw (3) and tighten by hand until the roof outer skin rests on the roof frame.
- Variant with mounting hole for mounting the roof rack:
Pull out the hold-down device (2) before installation by turning it until it reaches the same dimensions as shown.
Position the securing tool 2 469 797 over the mounting hole.
Join the M7 screw connection (1) (screw, 2 washers and nut) and hand-tighten it until the roof outer skin rests on the roof frame.
- Put the securing tools and locking pliers only on the stamped contours
(1) in the adhesive flange area of the roof outer skin to guarantee the correct distance and thus the correct amount of adhesive between the roof outer skin and roof frame.
- Attach the roof outer skin using the securing tools 2 469 797
.
- Attach the roof outer skin in the area of the windshield and rear window using locking pliers (1) on the stamped contours . Slightly preload the locking pliers.
- Release the securing tools and locking pliers and remove the roof outer skin.
