When replacing the seat frame of the front passenger seat: Remount components
Removing front lower strap
- Loosen screw (1).
- Disconnect the connector (2) and unclip the present cable holder.
- Pull out the lower belt (3) and remove.
Removing the drive for the seat angle adjustment
- Loosen screws (1).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen screw (2).
- Feed out the seat angle adjustment motor (3).
Remove seat height adjustment drive unit
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove the fuse (2).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Guide out the drive for the seat height adjustment (2).
Removing the drive for the forward/back seat adjustment
Precondition
The front seat is adjusted all the way up.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unclip the cable clip (2) from the carrier plate.
- Unlock the retaining tabs (1) and remove the holder (2).
- Unclip the guide tube (1) from the carrier plate (2).
- Carefully bend the guide tube (1) up until the guide tube can be pulled out of the drive (2).
Do not bend the drive (2) too far up; otherwise, the guide pins in the carrier plate (3) may be damaged.
- Feed the guide tube (1) and drive (2) out of the carrier plate (3).
Removing the fan for the seat surface
Precondition
Front seat is adjusted completely back and upward.
NOTE: To provide a better overview: Illustration of surrounding parts removed. - Loosen the attachment points (1).
- Detach detents (2).
- Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
- Feed out the fan (4) for the seat surface.
Removing the sensor mat for SBE
- Release cable tie (1).
- Unlock the connector housing in the sequence (1) to (4) and pull it out of the connector housing (5) in the direction of the arrow.
- Unclip the cable clip (1).
- Loosen the sensor (2) for seat occupancy detection at the detents (3).
- Carefully feed out and remove the sensor (2) through the marked area on the seat mechanism.
Installing the sensor mat for SBE
- Feed in and correctly position the sensor (2) through the marked area on the seat mechanism.
- Engage the sensor (2) for seat occupancy detection at the detents (3).
- Clip in the cable bracket (1).
- Correctly insert and lock the connector housing in the sequence (1) to (4) into the connector housing (5).
- Secure cable tie (1).
Installing the fan for the seat surface
Precondition
Front seat is adjusted completely back and upward.
NOTE: To provide a better overview: Illustration of surrounding parts removed. - Connect connectors (3) and lock.
- Feed in the fan (4) for the seat surface and position it correctly.
- Attach the detents (2).
- Connect the attachment points (1).
Install the drive for the forward/back seat adjustment
Precondition
The front seat is adjusted all the way up.
- Insert the connecting shaft (1) into the transmission of the longitudinal adjustment.
- Insert the drive (1) in the direction of the arrow and align it to the guide pins.
- Slice the drive (1) onto the short connecting shaft (2) without great effort and position it.
- Press the short connecting shaft slightly up from the bottom and align it to the drive (1).
- Insert the drive (1) completely.
- If necessary, use the long connecting shaft (3) to turn the drive (1) slightly until the drive is aligned and can be pushed onto the short connecting shaft (2).
- Insert the long connecting shaft (1) with the guide tube (2) into the transmission of the longitudinal adjustment.
- Raise the drive (1) slightly.
Do not raise the drive (1) too far up; otherwise, the guide pins in the carrier plate may be damaged.
- Bend the guide tube (2) carefully and insert it with the sleeve (3) into the drive (1).
- Clip the guide tube (1) and the drive into the carrier plate (2).
- Insert holder (2).
- Make sure the retaining tabs (1) are correctly fitted in the holder (2).
- Connect plug (1).
- Clip the cable bracket (2) into the carrier plate.
Installing the seat height adjustment drive
- Guide in the drive for seat height adjustment (2) and position correctly.
- Connect connectors (1) and lock.
- Push on fuse (2) until it engages firmly into place.
- Tighten down screw (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Drive for seat height adjustment to seat Screw tightening torque 14 Nm Installing the drive for the seat angle adjustment
- Correctly position and feed in the guides (2).
- Tighten down screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Drive for seat cushion tilt adjustment to seat Screw tightening torque 14 Nm - Position the drive for the seat angle adjustment (3) correctly.
- Tighten down screw (2).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Drive for seat cushion tilt adjustment to seat Stud tightening torque 8 Nm - Connect connectors (1) and lock.
Installing the front lower strap
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Clean all threaded belt connections with micro-encapsulated outer and internal threads.
Shavings or other debris must not remain in the components.
If a microencapsulated screw is reused, it must be coated with the following screw locking agent: Loctite 243, medium strength.
The screw connection must be completed within 10 minutes as hardening begins after this period.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Component is encoded against incorrect assembly. - Insert and position the lower strap (3).
- Replace the screw (1).

Lower strap to seat mechanism M10 screw Replace screw. Tightening torque 38 Nm - Connect the plug connection (2) and clip in any existing cable clips.
