Vehicle battery - closed current monitoring (all 7' series models 2016-2022)
Preliminary work needed:
To access the battery ground lead, perform the necessary preliminary work described in the service information Disconnecting and connecting battery ground lead (740i 2016-2022, 740i xDrive 2017-2022, 750i 2016-2019, 750i xDrive 2016-2022, M760i xDrive 2017-2022) , or 61 20 900 Disconnecting and connecting battery ground lead (740e xDrive PHEV 2017-2019, 745e xDrive PHEV 2020-2022) .
Do not disconnect the battery ground lead!
NOTE:
If several 12V batteries are installed in the vehicle:
Closed-circuit current check is possible on the vehicle battery only.
Closed-circuit current check is possible on the vehicle battery only.
Connect diagnostic system.
Connect the clip-on probe to the battery ground lead of the vehicle battery. The arrow on the clipon probe must point towards the vehicle battery.
Measure closed-circuit current.
