Removing the output shafts
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
It is paramount to replace the radial shaft seal each time the output shaft is removed.
It is paramount to replace the radial shaft seal each time the output shaft is removed.
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the right and left side.
If installed: Remove the hub cap
- Remove the hub cap (1) in arrow direction.
- Dispose of the hub cap (1)
.NOTE: The hub cap is not installed again due to risk of corrosion.
Loosen the output shaft from the wheel bearing
- Press brake pedal.
- Loosen the collar screw (1)
.
The output shaft is released from the wheel bearing.
Detach the upper wishbone from the swivel bearing
- Release nut (1) .
- Pull out screw (2) .
- Release upper wishbone (3)
from the swivel bearing (4)

(F) = driving direction
Attaching swivel bearing in installation position
- Attach swivel bearing in installation position (1)
with special tool 2 413 317
.
Do not allow the swivel bearing (1) to tilt outward or to hang down from the brake hose.
Removing the spring strut holder
- Release nut (1) .
- Remove the screw (2) .
Releasing the anti-roll bar link from the spring strut holder
- Unfasten nut (1)
.NOTE: Counter-hold at the Torx socket.
- Releasing the anti-roll bar link (2) from the spring strut holder.
- Release the screw (2) from the spring strut holder (1) .

- All specifications must be observed and complied with.
- Expand spring strut holder (1) with special tool 2 414 636.
- Protecting the output shaft from damage with a towel is mandatory (2)

- Feed out and remove the spring strut holder (1) downward.
Remove output shaft
- Secure output shaft against falling out.
- Position the aluminum mandrel (2) at the output shaft (1) (arrow).
- Knock out the output shaft (1)
out of the front axle transmission or the bearing bracket with the aluminum mandrel (2)

- Remove the output shaft (1) in the direction of the arrow.
