Remove both front-end struts

Removing the front-end strut

• Loosen screws (1)  and (2)  .
• Remove the front-end strut (3)  .

  Removing the front-end strut (US version) 

  NOTE: Only perform the operation on the right side.
• Detach cover (1)  in upward direction out of the detents.

  NOTE: Description is for left component only.
  Procedure on the right side is identical.
  NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
  Use of an incorrect tool (impact screwdriver) to release and tighten the screws. 
  Damaged thread. 

  • Only use a standard tool (e.g. reversible ratchet) to release/tighten the screws.

• Loosen screws (1)  .
• Remove the front-end strut (2)  .

Removing left intake filter housing with left front-end strut 

Precondition 

Acoustic cover removed

• US version: 
• Loosen screws (1)  .

  Remove strut (2)  .

• Unfasten circlip (1)  .
• Remove screws (arrows).

• Disconnect the upper section (1)  of the clean air pipe from the lower part (2)  of the clean air pipe.
• Unlock the locks (3)  .
• Feed out left intake filter housing (4)  with left front-end strut in upward direction and remove.
