Installing the vibration damper
Install the radial shaft seal in the timing case cover on the bottom
- Replace radial shaft seal.
Parts: Radial shaft seal
- Always store the radial shaft seal (1
) with the support bushing (2
).
If the radial shaft seal (1 ) is stored for more than six months without the support bushing (2 ), there is no functional safety any longer.
- Make sure that the sealing lip of the radial shaft seal (1 ) is not kinked.
- Remove the support bushing (2 ) from the radial shaft seal (1 ).
- Attach the radial shaft seal (1
) to the bottom timing case cover.
- Screw in the radial shaft seal with the special tool 0 493 924 (11 9 420)
and the central bolt (3
) flush in the lower timing case cover.
- Position vibration damper.
- Replace central bolt.
Parts: Central bolt
- Grease the facing on the screw head of the central bolt (3
).
Consumable Lubricating grease SYNTHESO GLEP 1 100 g, Tube 83239407778 - Screw in the central bolt (3 ) by a few turns.
- Secure the special tool 0 496 365 (11 8 090) with the screws (1
) of the belt pulley on the vibration damper.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the engine.
If the engine is manually rotated in the wrong direction of rotation, the engine can be damaged.- Only rotate the engine manually in the correct direction of rotation: a) clockwise when looking at the damper, or b) counterclockwise when looking at the chain drive, b) applies only if the timing chain is installed in the rear.
- Turn the engine at the central bolt (3 ) until the screw (2 ) of the belt tensioner can be screwed into the hole of the belt tensioner.
- Tighten down screws (1
).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
