Prepare New Part
- Adjust the new part for the inner part of the B-pillar (1) and prepare for joining by welding.
- Grind off the adhesive residues (2) of the bonded connection from the CFRP pipe (3) on the body to roughly half the thickness.
Grind off using the belt sander with non-woven abrasive.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
For additional information see: 41 00... Welding in reinforcement plates (sheet steel) - Prepare a reinforcement plate (2) for the removed aperture (1).
- Perform the operation for all 4 removed apertures (1).
- Perform separating cuts (1) on the new part of the center side frame according to the separating cuts on the vehicle.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The new part is not welded to the connection faces on the vehicle at the separation cuts. - Perform separating cuts (1) on the new part of the center side frame according to the separating cuts on the vehicle.
Perform the separating cuts in a way that joints of 3 to 5 mm are created for the connection area on the body.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Structural adhesive bonding.
Observe preparation of bonding surfaces.
For additional information see: 41 00... BMW bonding instructions - Prepare the areas (1) for the structure bonding of steel on steel.
- Prepare the areas (2) for the structure bonding of steel on Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP).NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic body parts damages.
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic body parts may not be damaged under any circumstance.- Carry out separation cut only on outer component. Do not tap the underlying component.
- While removing the adhesive, do not tap the underlying component.
- Grind down the adhesive residues on the CFRP pipe in the areas (1).NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION

- Adjust the new part (2) using an alignment bracket or a universal fixture and secure it.
While doing so, make sure the joints (3) have a width of 3 to 5 mm.
- Prepare new part in the areas (4) for joining through weld.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION

For additional information see: 41 00... Spot-weld bonding steel components - Prepare double the number of repair welding spots in the area (2) due to the spot-welded adhesive joints of the series.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The adhesive between the dot flanges acts as an insulator.
Apply repair welding spots to available welding spots on the vehicle only. - Prepare the area (1) in such a way that the repair welding spots can be set on the series welding spots of the vehicle.
In the area (1), be aware of the spot-welded adhesive joints of the floor panel located behind it.
- Mark and perform separating cuts (1) to (3) on the new part of the side frame (4) according to the separating cuts on the vehicle.
- Prepare the new part for joining by welding.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
