Removing and installing/replacing left or right rear side window (330i GT xDrive, 340i GT xDrive)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove D-pillar TRIM PANEL .
- Remove drip molding TRIM STRIP .
Attention !
- Notes on window bonding refer to: INFORMATION ON VEHICLE PROTECTION , MATERIALS FOR BONDING WINDOW , NOTES ON WINDOW BONDING REPAIR KIT and SAFETY AT WORK .
- General PROCEDURE for dismantling/installing bonded window glass
Removal is carried out with WIRE PULL HANDLES .
The following new parts/CONSUMABLES are required (sourcing reference applicable BMW Parts Catalog).

Pull off bottom trim strip (1) starting from the side window.
Release trim strip (1) downwards out of clip (2).
Installation note:
If reusing the side window, the trim strip (1) must be installed on the side window before the application of adhesive.
Release edge protection (1) in the area of gasket (2).
Pop out bottom gasket (2) out of body.
Pull off gasket (2) from the side window and feed out in area (A) in upwards direction.
Installation note:
To facilitate installation, moisten gasket (2) with water.
Cutting through the rear adhesive bead:
Feed wire (1) behind PVC coating of the side window and put around side window completely.
Attach wire pull handles (2) to wire (1).
Secure side window to body with adhesive tape.
To facilitate cutting through the adhesive bead, heat the wire (1) by means of sawing motion.
Cut through the adhesive bead from back to front.
Cutting through the front adhesive bead:
Pull the wire handle (1) downwards while holding wire handle (2) as counter support.
There are guide pins in area (A) which can be cut through using increased force.
Cut through adhesive bead completely and remove side window.
Installation of Dual Lock tapes:
Remove remnants of guide pins (1) and Dual Lock tapes (2) and clean bonding surface.
Apply new Dual Lock tape (2) between the marks on the body area.
Overview for side window bonding:
Install trim strip on rear gutter strip to side window.

| b [mm] = Width adhesive bead 8 ±2 |
| h [mm] = Height adhesive bead 13 +2 |
For reusing the side window:
- Remove rest of dual-lock tapes (1). Clean bonding surface and stick on new dual lock tapes (1).
Apply bead joint in area (2).
Follow the adhesive bead around the circumference of the PVC coating (3).
Perform the following repair work with a second person to give assistance.
Clip in side window (1) into mounting (3) with clip (2) as first.
Then place side window (1) on the side panel, feed in guide pins (4), if necessary.
Align side window (1) to side wall and engage in Dual Lock tapes.
Fix side window (1) in position with yellow plastic adhesive tape (sourcing reference: applicable BMW Parts Catalog).
Replacement:
Observe NOTES for securing components with adhesive tape.
Bond cover (1) according to dimension (x) parallel to the door window glass (2).
(x) = 6 ±1 mm
Cover (1) must rest on sealing in area (A).
In area (B) with the door closed, the weather strip may not rest on the cover (1).
