Removing and installing/replacing rear window (330i GT xDrive, 340i GT xDrive)
Special tools required:
- 51 0 010
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Extend rear spoiler
- Remove rear lid TRIM .
- Remove AUXILIARY BRAKE LIGHT .
Attention !

- General PROCEDURE for dismantling/installing bonded window glass
Removal is performed with ROLL OUT 2000 .
The following new parts/CONSUMABLES are required (sourcing reference applicable BMW Parts Catalog).

When reusing the rear window:
Avoid damaging lines for heated rear window/-aerial.
Release screws (1).
Unlock plug connections (2) and disconnect.
Unfasten plug connection (3) and disconnect.
Secure cable to rear window with adhesive tape.
Attention !
Tape off body in area of piercing point with fabric adhesive tape (risk of damage).
Push wire from ROLL OUT 2000 at line (1) through adhesive bead.

Installation of spacer buffers/Dual Locks (spacers):
Attention !
Spacer buffers (1) and Dual Locks (2) are installed to prevent rear window breakage.
Completely remove damaged spacer buffers (1) and Dual Locks (2).
Bond new spacer buffer (1) and Dual Locks (2) to marks.
Overview of rear window bonding:
| a [mm] = Position of adhesive bead to the tolerance band 1 ±1 |
| b [mm] = Width adhesive bead 8 ±2 |
| h [mm] = Height adhesive bead 12 ±1 |
Remove faulty seals (1 and 2) on the left and right of the rear window and tailgate.
Clean bonding surface with CLEANING AGENT R2 .
Bond seals (1 and 2) left and right to markings of the rear window.
Replace faulty Dual Locks (3) left and right.
Place adhesive bead centrally on tolerance band.
Bead joint must be located in area (A).
Installation note:
Carefully working on rear window with siphon:
- Feed in under rear spoiler
- Place on top
- Center left/right
- Align at top according to dimension (A)
(A) = 7 ± 1 mm
- Engage in this position into Dual Locks and secure with yellow plastic adhesive tape
Preload on top of windscreen to prevent wind noise:
Rear window (1) must be lower than roof outer skin (2). This is the only way to prevent wind noises.
Position special tool 51 0 010 in center of vehicle depending on dimension (A) and check underprotrusion of rear window (1).
(A) = 2 ± 1.5 mm
(X) = Measurement stages 1... 4 mm
