Sticking the pressure compensation element on the lid of the brush compartment (at the time of replacement)
Precondition
Second person available for the entire duration of the repair
Packaging of the pressure compensation element undamaged
All special tools clean and free of grease
Clean workstation
Clean hands
Correct lid installed (see "REMOVING THE PRESSURE COMPENSATION ELEMENT FROM EME LID ")
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
- The pressure compensation element is vital in ensuring flawless functioning of the drive unit. Incorrect handling can prematurely damage the pressure compensation element and impede its functioning, which can result in a failure of the drive unit.
- Do not exert any pressure on the pressure compensation element (either with your finger or with other objects).
- Do not place anything on the pressure compensation element.
- Do not touch the bonding surface of the pressure compensation element.
- Handling it according to the repair instructions must be ensured.
NOTE:
A second person must be available to the person performing the task for the entire duration
of the repair process.
The second person has the following tasks:
Check that the bonding surfaces are cleaned properly.
Check of correct installation of the pressure compensation element.
Check that the special tools are handled as prescribed.
Check of correct repair in accordance with the repair instructions.
The second person has the following tasks:

Check of correct installation of the pressure compensation element.
Check that the special tools are handled as prescribed.
Check of correct repair in accordance with the repair instructions.
- Position the centering sleeve 5 A3E 594 on position (1) of lid (2) as shown.
- Press pins (3) in.
- Position the pressure compensation element (1) with the protective film facing down on a clean surface as shown.
- Position the suction lifter 5 A3E 597 above the pressure compensation element (1) in such a way that the mark (2) and the opening (3) lie on top of each other.
- Set the suction lifter 5 A3E 597
on the pressure compensation element (1) without applying any pressure and press together slightly halfway.
Do not press the suction lifter 5 A3E 597 together fully.
- Now the pressure compensation element (1) adheres to the suction lifter 5 A3E 597 .
- Check whether the pressure compensation element (1) adheres to the suction lifter 5 A3E 597
in the shown position.
Mark (2) and the opening (3) must lie on top of each other.
- If necessary, correct the position and repeat the process.
- Detach the protective film (1) from the pressure compensation element (2).
Do not touch the bonding surface of the pressure compensation element!
- Position the suction lifter 5 A3E 597 as shown with the flat side (2) downwards in the centering sleeve 5 A3E 594.
- Mark (1) of suction lifter 5 A3E 597
is at the top.
- 1. Press suction lifter 5 A3E 597 slightly up to stop (1).
- 2. Press suction lifter 5 A3E 597 together completely (2).
- 3. Remove the suction lifter 5 A3E 597
.
- Check whether the pressure compensation element (1) is in the correct position shown.
- If the pressure compensation element
(1) is not in the position shown:
Remove the centering sleeve 5 A3E 594 .
Remove and dispose of pressure compensation element (1).
Repeat procedure.
- Position the installation aid 5 A3E 5D3
as shown.
- Press the installation aid 5 A3E 5D3
as shown up to the stop
(1) once
and hold for 5 s (count to 5).
Do not press repeatedly!
- Remove all special tools.
