Cleaning the sealing surfaces (installation of the removed cover of the EME)

- Adhere to the utmost cleanliness.
- Protect components from contamination e.g. by covering.
- Close off line connections with seal plugs.

The use of metal-cutting tools (e.g., emery cloths) for cleaning surfaces can damage them and lead to leaks and/or engine damage.

The inside of the lid or the interior of the housing must be free of sealing residues and other foreign bodies.

- Remove any coarse sealing residue on sealing surface (1) using scraper 0 495 102 (11 4 470) .
- Remove any fine sealing residue on sealing surface (1) using extractor 0 495 102 (11 4 470) .
- Remove the sealing residue and other foreign bodies from the inside of the lid through suction completely
.
Do not clean the sealing surface (1) with the brake cleaner until right before installing the lid.

- Seal openings (3) with the plugs 0 494 179 (32 1 270).
- Remove any coarse sealing residue on sealing surface (1) using scraper 0 495 102 (11 4 470) .
- Remove any fine sealing residue on sealing surface (1) using extractor 0 495 102 (11 4 470) .
- Remove the sealing residue and other foreign bodies from the interior of the housing through suction completely .
- Remove plugs 0 494 179 (32 1 270) from openings (3) .
- Clean sealing surfaces (2)
and (3)
with the brake cleaner.
Do not clean the sealing surface (1) with the brake cleaner until right before installing the lid.

- Dry the sealing surfaces (2) and (3) with a clean, lint-free cleaning cloth.
