Checking/Topping up the transfer box oil (Active Torque Control 13-1)
Preliminary work
- Refer to CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL OF THE TRANSFER BOX WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
- Refer to REMOVING REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Refer to REMOVING TRANSMISSION CROSS-MEMBER .
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the transmission .
Damage to the transmission due to unapproved transmission oil .
Damage to the transmission .
Damage to the transmission due to unapproved transmission oil .
- Use only the BMW approved transmission oil. See the Fluid Capacities tab for the selected vehicle.
- Check the transmission oil level after completing the repair.
- Open the oil filler plug (1).
- Check the transmission oil level on the transfer box (VTG).
- If necessary, top up transmission oil with the special tool 0 493 337 (00 2 080) up to the lower edge of the opening for the oil filler plug.TECHNICAL DATA SPECIFICATION
Filling capacity of transfer box Transfer-box oil min. 0.7 L - Replace the oil filler plug (1).
Parts: Oil filler plug
- Tighten the oil filler plug (1).
