Remove the acoustic cover of the oil sump

- Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

Remove torsion strut
IMPORTANT: Driving without torsion strut is prohibited.IMPORTANT: Secure component against falling. - Refer to PARTIALLY REMOVING THE LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE VENTILATION DUCT .

Precondition
Disconnect all negative battery cables.
NOTE:
To provide a better overview: Illustration of surrounding parts removed.
- Unlock and loosen connector (1) .
- Loosen nut (2) .
- Guide the positive battery cable (3)
out of the clamp (4)
and lay to one side.
- Unlock and loosen the clamps (1) .
- Remove the wiring harness section of the automatic transmission (2) and place to one side.
- Loosen the expanding rivet (1)
.
- Loosen expanding rivet (1) .
- Undo Christmas tree clip (2)
.
- Loosen expanding rivet (1)
.
- Loosen expanding rivet (1) .
- Feed out the acoustic cover (2) toward the rear bottom and remove.
