Adjusting rear door window glass

Precondition 

The vehicle is supported on all the wheels at ground level.

The front door is adjusted correctly.

The battery charger is connected (full operability of the power electric windows during the adjustment work is assured only with external voltage supply).

• Remove the sealing cap on the door frame.
• Guide a suitable tool (1) into the door and unscrew the nut (2) two revolutions.

  The power window must move freely.

• Open the door, if necessary move the door window glass to the top-most position.
• Insert special tool 5 A4A 385 with special tool 5 A4A 382 into the rotary striker of the door lock and  manually lock the rotary striker (door window glass moves all the way up).
• Close the door carefully until special tool 5 A4A 385  is on the striker (defined opening angle for the measurement).

• Do not exert any force on the door or the door window glass during measurement.
• Abut special tool 0 496 456 (51 0 342)  to the seal (2) and the door window glass (1).
• Determine the dimension for the preload between the seal (2) and the outer edge of the door window glass (1).

  Nominal dimension = 60 ± 1 mm

• Open door and remove sealing cap on door window frame.
• Guide special tool 2 351 398  into the door and set it on the nut (1) and guide (2).
• Slacken nut (1) with knob (3).
• Set the preload by turning the lever (4).

  Nominal dimension = 60 ± 1 mm

• Tighten nut (1).

  TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  
  

  Power electric windows to inner door panel
  M6	Tightening Torque	9.5 Nm

• Check setting, repeat process if necessary.
• Remove special tool 2 351 398  and mount the sealing cap.
• Remove special tool 5 A4A 385  and 5 A4A 382  from the rotary striker of the door lock.
• Close the door enough that the door window glass does not touch the front seal.
• Guide a suitable tool (1) into the door and tighten the nut (2).

  While doing this, make sure that the window lift rail is not shifted.

• Insert special tool 2 356 862  on the door window glass with the holder (5 mm) (1) when locked (A).

  Close the door and release lock (2) (B).

• Open door.
• Place the special tool 2 356 862  on the door window glass as shown.

  Approx. 6.5 cm inwards in each case.

• Close door.
• Measure retraction depth

• Attach the special tool 2 359 976  to the door window glass in such a way that the multi-tooth screws on the door window glass are still accessible.
• Release adjustment lever (1) by twisting.
• Set the retraction depth of the side window (1) by shifting the adjustment lever.

  Nominal dimension: 5.6 mm

• Tighten adjustment lever (1).

• Adjust the door window glass (1) parallel to B-pillar trim panel (2).

  Dimension (A) = 8.4 ± 1.3 mm

Tighten the rear door window glass 

• Tighten the multi-tooth screws (1) on the door window glass with the special tool 2 360 051B  and a torque wrench.
