Removing the tension spring

- Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR COVERING .
- Refer to IF INSTALLED: REMOVING EMERGENCY WHEEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LOADING EDGE TRIM .
- Refer to REMOVING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM PANEL ON LEFT .

- Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.
CAUTION:
Tension spring

- Wear hand protection while removing and installing the tension spring.
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Note down the position of the tension spring (1) on the rear holder (2).
- Detach the tension spring (1) from the rear holder (2).
- Feed out the tension spring (1) from the hinge (3).
