Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .

- Protect working area.
- Handle tools and components carefully.
- Mount special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325) as shown.
- Break detents (1) of tailgate button (2) by carefully striking special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325) .
- Release detents (3) from the inside and unclip tailgate button (2) downwards.
- Disconnect connector (1) and remove tailgate button (2).
- If necessary, remove any broken parts of tailgate button (2) from the tailgate.
