Removing spindle drive of the tailgate

- Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the spindle drive .
If the trunk lid is not opened completely, the spindle drive may be damaged .

- Remove and install the spindle drive only when the Trunk lid is open to the maximum extent.

Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING REAR WINDOW STORAGE SHELF AT FRONT .
- Refer to REMOVING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR COVERING .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LOADING EDGE TRIM .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT COVER .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LED IN THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
- Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM PANEL .
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Release the funnel (2) with the clamps (3).
- Guide the funnel (2) out under the sealing lip of the tailgate seal.
- Before removing the spindle drive (3), make sure that the two ball sockets (1) are relieved.
- Lift the lower power clamp (2) a little with a screwdriver.
- Detach the lower ball socket (1) of the spindle drive (3) from the body.
- Lift the upper power clamp (2) a little with a screwdriver.
- Detach the upper ball socket (1) of the spindle drive (3) from the tailgate.
- Remove the spindle drive (3) along with the funnel (4).
