Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE TOP TRIM FOR THE REAR WINDOW FRAME .
- Refer to REMOVING THE TRIM FOR THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE REAR WINDOW FRAMES .
- Refer to REMOVING THE POWER TAILGATE SWITCH .
- Refer to REMOVING TRUNK COMPARTMENT LIGHT ON TRUNK LID .
- Refer to REMOVING TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .

- Protect working area.
- Handle tools and components carefully.
- Mount special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325) as illustrated.
- Destroy the detents (1) of the tailgate button (2) by carefully hitting it with the special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325) .
- Release detents (3) from the inside and unclip the tailgate buttons (2) downwards.
- Disconnect the connector (1) and remove the tailgate buttons (2).
- If necessary, remove the broken parts of the tailgate buttons (2) from the tailgate.
