Flush and vent the rear axle brake circuit (18-inch high brake)
NOTE:
Description is for right component only. The procedure on the left side is identical.
Prerequisite
- Vehicles with fixed caliper brake system.

Use only BMW-APPROVED BRAKE FLUIDS . Refer to the "Fluid Capacities" tab for the selected vehicle.

Preliminary work
- Remove the rear left engine compartment COVER .
- Connect the brake fluid BLEEDER UNIT .
- Distinguish the CALIPERS from different manufacturers.
- Begin with the flushing at the right rear.
- Connect the vent hose with the collecting vessel to the bleed valve (1) on rear right brake caliper.
- Open the bleed valve (1) and purge it until clear, bubble-free brake fluid emerges.
- Close bleed valve.TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Rear bleed valve Bleed valve Tightening torque 10 Nm - Carry out the same procedure on the rear left wheel brake.
