Removing upper cross connection

- Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
- Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING SEAL FOR FRONT HOOD .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER FOR THE CENTER ENGINE COMPARTMENT .
- Unclip Bowden cable bracket (1) from the body.
- Release lid (2) from snap-in lugs (3) and fold it up and to the front.
- Detach the Bowden cable (1).
- Set Bowden cable bracket (2) aside together with the Bowden cables.
- Detach Bowden cable (1) on the upper cross connection.
- Loosen screws (2).
- Loosen screws (1) and (2).
- Loosen screws (2).
- Carefully pull the bumper cover (1) slightly in a forward direction as shown.
- Remove the expanding rivet (2).
- Guide out and remove cross connection (3) upwards.
