Precondition
- Convertible top is completely open.

- Before working on the airbag, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

- Adjust the front seat fully to the rear.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Adjust the front seat fully to the front.
- Loosen screws (1).
Deactivate vehicle electrical system

- Protect working area.
- Handle tools and components carefully.
- Cover the door sill using protective covers.
- Place the front seat fully to the rear and disconnect the plug connector (1).

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Remove the front seat with the assistance of an support person.
For continuing work on the front seat: Mount front seat on universal seat mount and connect to wiring harness if necessary

- Fit special tool 2 473 334
onto special tool 0 495 187 (00 2 300). CAUTION: Heavy component.
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage.- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Mount the front seat onto the special tool 2 473 334.
To ensure a professional repair, using special tools 0 495 187 (00 2 300) and 2 473 334 is recommended.

Only carry out the following step if the front seat needs to undergo electrical adjustment.

- Connect special tool 0 496 519 (61 4 150) for adjusting the removed front seat with wiring harness of the vehicle and the removed front seat.
