Removing and installing/replacing the coolant expansion tank (S63 B44 T 2) (X6 M)
IMPORTANT:
Risk of scalding!
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Comply with NOTES FOR CARRYING OUT REPAIR WORK on the cooling system
- Drain COOLANT from radiator down to lower edge on expansion tank.
- Clamp off coolant hoses with a suitable tool.
- Switch off ignition
- Remove front UNDERBODY PROTECTION. .
- Remove front left WHEEL ARCH COVER (front section).
Removal:
Unlock connector (1) and pull off.
Unlock and detach lower coolant hose (2).
Unlock and detach coolant hose (1).
Release screw (1).
Unlock and detach coolant hose (2).
Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
Thread out coolant expansion tank and remove.
Installation:
Mount and install the expansion tank in the rubber mount.
Connect and lock the connector (1).
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Connect bottom coolant hose (2).
The coolant hose (2) must engage audibly.
Connect bottom coolant hose (2).
The coolant hose (2) must engage audibly.
Tighten screw (1).
Tightening torque 17 10 1AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Top up COOLANT. .
- Install front UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Install front WHEEL ARCH COVER (front section), left.
