Removing and installing/replacing fan cowl with electric fan (S63 B44 T 2) (X6 M)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Read out the fault memory of the DME control unit.
• Switch off ignition.
• Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .

Removal: 

Unclip Bowden cable for bonnet release and cable from transverse reinforcement.

Loosen screws (1).

Remove transverse reinforcement (2).

Unlock connector (1) and pull off.

Detach connector (2) from fan cowl.

Release lock (1).

Press lock (1).

Raise fan cowl (2) until holder (3) can be folded into center of vehicle.

Release coolant hose (1) from the fan cowl at the bottom.

Disengage the coolant line (2) from the fan cowl.

Feed out fan cowl upwards and remove.

Installation: 

Installation note: 

Insert retaining tab (1) at bottom on module carrier.

Guide fan cowl (2) in and fold holder (3) outwards in direction of arrow.

Lock fan cowl (2) in latch mechanism (1).

Lock (1) must snap audibly into place.

Install fan cowl.

Clip coolant hose (1) to bottom of fan cowl.

Clip coolant hose (2) to top of fan cowl.

Lock the lock (1).

Attach and lock connector (1).

Connector (1) must engage audibly.

Secure connector (2) to fan cowl.

Install transverse reinforcement (2).

Parts:  Replace screws.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 17 10 4AZ .

Clip Bowden cable for bonnet release and cable onto transverse reinforcement.

Required follow-up work: 

• Install INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
