Ultrasonic sensors for parking maneuvering assistant

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 BMW X3, 2016 BMW X3, 2015 BMW X3, 2014 BMW X3, and 2013 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Both ultrasonic sensors of the parking maneuvering assistant are installed in the bumper on the left and right.

The function of these two ultrasonic sensors is similar to the function of the two ultrasonic sensors on Park Assist: They transmit ultrasonic pulses and receive echo impulses. The signals are evaluated by the PMA control unit. The length and depth of the parking space are then calculated from this.

All ultrasonic sensors are connected via direct lines to the PMA control unit (no LIN bus).

NOTE: Observe ultrasonic sensors for Park Distance Control (PDC)!

The ultrasonic sensors for the park assist are also connected to the PMA control unit. Observe the separate functional description to the PDC for the park assist!
