Requirements for the air mass system test
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 BMW X3, 2016 BMW X3, 2015 BMW X3, 2014 BMW X3, and 2013 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
In order to ensure that the air mass system test delivers a meaningful result, the following requirements must be met:
- The engine must be at operating temperature
- All additional loads, e.g. air conditioning system or seat heating, must be switched off
- No electrical faults in the following systems may be stored in the DDE fault memory:
- Air mass flow sensor
- EGR controller
- Charging pressure actuator
- Charging pressure sensor
- Intake air temperature sensor
- Charge-air temperature sensor
- Ambient pressure sensor
- Throttle valve
- Swirl flaps
- The air intake duct and air filter must be OK
- Diesel particle filter must not be clogged
- Regeneration of the diesel particle filter may be active or requested
- The throttle valve and swirl flaps must be functional
