18 10 100 Replacing intermediate pipe (N47 D20 O1)

Special tools required:

31 2 220

WARNING: Risk of burning!
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Danger of injury!
Removal of the exhaust system must be carried out with the assistance of a second person.

Support intermediate pipe with jack and special tool 31 2 220 and secure against falling out.

NOTE: If the cutting line is not marked by a punch mark in the pipe, determine the cutting line by means of the pipe length on the new intermediate pipe.

Carry over cutting line to defective intermediate pipe and mark.

Secure intermediate pipe against falling out.

Cut through exhaust pipes at marked point with a suitable tool.

Unfasten nut.

Tightening torque: 18 31 2AZ .

Lower intermediate pipe and remove.

Installation note:

Adjust new intermediate pipe to fit and connect with clamps.

Center clamp and tighten down.

Tightening torque: 18 31 3AZ .

Installation note:

Check rubber mount for damage, replace if necessary.

Check exhaust system for leak tightness.
