Tightening the VANOS central valve of the intake adjuster

• Have the special tool 0 496 855  ready.

• Keep a standard torque wrench (1) ready.

• Lay out all special tools and standard tools.

• Assemble all special tools and standard tools as shown.

NOTE: The figure shows the rear of the engine.

• Tighten the VANOS central valve (1) of the intake adjuster.

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

VANOS central valve to camshaft
M21 VANOS central valve on the thread and on the contact surface must be coated with engine oil.	Joining torque	50 Nm
	tightening torque	140 Nm
M22 VANOS central valve on the thread and on the contact surface must be coated with engine oil.	Joining torque	50 Nm
	tightening torque	140 Nm
