Removing left and right charge air cooler

Preliminary work

- Refer to DRAINING THE COOLANT FROM THE COOLANT PUMPS .
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove connecting plate (2) of charge air cooler.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Open the cable clip (2) and place the cable aside.
- Unlock retaining clips (1) with a suitable screwdriver.
- Detach the coolant lines (2) and set aside.
- Thread the hose (1) out of the holder on the charge air cooler (4).
- Loosen hose clamp (3).
- Pull the hose (2) off the stud of the charge air cooler.
- Thread the hose (1) out of the holder on the charge air cooler (4).
- Loosen hose clamp (3).
- Pull the hose (2) off the stud of the charge air cooler.
- Loosen hose clamp (1).
- Loosen screw (2).
- Feed out the holder (3) downward.
- Unlock the line (1) and disconnect.
- Put the line to one side.
NOTE:
There is risk of breakage.
- Loosen screw (1).
- Unlock the holder (2) in an upward direction using a suitable screwdriver.
- Unlock retaining clip (1) from hose (2) with a suitable screwdriver.
- Detach hose (2).
- Release the hose clamps (1).
- Guide out the charge air cooler (2) upwards.
Removing oil filler neck
- Release the screw (2) at the oil filler neck (3).
- Release the screw (1) at the oil filler neck (3).
- Turn the oil filler neck (1) by about 15° clockwise.
- Remove the oil filler neck (1).
- Unlock retaining clips (1) with a suitable screwdriver.
- Detach the coolant lines (2) and set aside.
- Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
- Thread the hose (1) out of the holder on the charge air cooler (4).
- Loosen hose clamp (3).
- Pull the hose (2) off the stud of the charge air cooler.
- Thread the hose (1) out of the holder on the charge air cooler (4).
- Loosen hose clamp (3).
- Pull the hose (2) off the stud of the charge air cooler.
- Loosen hose clamp (1).
- Loosen screw (2).
- Feed out the holder (3) downward.
- Unlock the line (1) and disconnect.
- Put the line to one side.
There is risk of breakage.
- Unlock the retaining clip (1) with suitable screwdriver.
- Remove the coolant line (2) and lay it to one side..
- Unlock the line (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
- Put the line to one side.
There is risk of breakage.
- Unlock the holder with a suitable screwdriver at the lug (1) and remove it from the guide in an upward fashion.
- Disengage line (1) from the holders (2).
- Loosen screw (1).
- Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove connecting plate (2) of charge air cooler.
- Loosen hose clamp (1) on charge air cooler (2).
- Guide out the charge air cooler (1) upwards.
