Removing the vibration damper

- Secure the special tool 0 496 365 (11 8 090)
with the screws (1
) of the belt pulley on the vibration damper.NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the engine.
If the engine is manually rotated in the wrong direction of rotation, the engine can be damaged.- Only rotate the engine manually in the correct direction of rotation: a) clockwise when looking at the damper, or b) counterclockwise when looking at the chain drive, b) applies only if the timing chain is installed in the rear.
- Turn the engine at the central bolt (3 ) until the screw (2 ) of the belt tensioner can be screwed into the bore hole of the belt tensioner.
- Tighten the screws (1

Special tool to vibration damper M10x17 Tightening torque 40 Nm - Tighten down screw (2
).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Special tool to crankcase M10x95 Tightening torque 40 Nm - Release the central bolt (3 ) on the vibration damper. A 3/4 inch tool is needed to release the central bolt.
- Remove vibration damper.
Removing the radial shaft seal in the timing case cover on the bottom
- Position all levers (2 ) of the special tool 0 493 923 (11 9 410) horizontally to pull off the radial shaft seal (1 ).
- Turn the spindle of the special tool 0 493 923 (11 9 410) back until all levers
(2) can be positioned at
the sealing lip.
- Turn all levers (2 ) so that the levers (2 ) behind the radial shaft seal (1 ) engage.
- Turn the spindle
(3
) on the special tool 0 493 923 (11 9 410) and detach the radial shaft seal
(1
).
